The story about O Corpo Seco has been told mostly by grandparents or older people to younger ones because they wanted to stop them from wandering out at night. According to the ghost stories that have went around, the O Corpo Seco looks like a zombie because of its “ugly” physique. It is also being compared to a vampire because allegedly, he sucks the blood out of the people he sees wandering around at night at deserted places.

The story of O Corpo Seco originated from the rural town of Ituiutaba located in Minas Gerais. Accordingly, the first ever sighting of the O Corpo Seco took place in 1850. As the legend goes, there was once a very evil man or a boy or a Portuguese immigrant in the aforementioned rural town. He was very rude to his slaves, towards animals, and even to his family. He was especially cruel to his own mother and other stories claimed that he beat his mother regularly.

The man had the habit of raping, torturing, and even killing women and children. As for the men, he burned them. When he got a little older, the man reportedly ordered others by bribing them to do what he used to do. If they refused, he reportedly told them he would burn them and because of his history, they ended up doing the things he asked of them.

The man finally passes away and God reportedly did not allow him to go through the gates of heaven. He was taken to Hell but the Devil could not let him stay there, too, because he was too evil. Nature also did not want anything to do with the corpse of the man because whenever he was buried, he was found out of the grave the next day. Because he was refused entry in Heaven, hell, and even on Earth, he could not find a resting place so he decided to just haunt the rural areas in Brazil while his body decomposed. He is said to be condemned to stay on Earth and not find peace until Judgement Day.

What People Are Saying About O Corpo Seco

Aside from the previously stated result upon seeing O Corpo Seco, wherein the pray would have his or her blood socked out by the mythical creature, others claim that the O Corpo Seco will curse them and this means they will soon die. The death is reportedly in a very gruesome way. Also, the mythical creature has the power to kill trees.

As for how O Corpo Seco looks, some say that he has a shriveled body and an ugly face. He is most likely to be sighted, if he really is a true creature, in southeast Brazil.

One man from Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo said that she was in a cemetery one night. He then saw the O Corpo Seco in the area. Nothing bad happened to the woman who claims she saw O Corpo Seco.
