However, Baguio City is not just known for its cool weather and amazing events but it is also known for being the location of two of the most haunted places in the Philippines. One of these haunted places is the Laperal White House, which is located at Leonard Wood Road and is said to be the home of two ghosts, a woman in white and a little girl.

The History Of Laperal White House

The Laperal White House was built in the 1930s by one Roberto Laperal and its design was very modern during that time because it was patterned from Victorian-styled houses. It had wooden planks and a steep roof. The heads of the Laperal clan, Roberto and Victorina, made this home their vacation house. The house is known to be one of the structures that has the strongest foundation in the city because it was not destroyed during the deadly 1990 earthquake.

When the Japanese invaded the Philippines during World War II, the Laperal White House because their garrison. Allegedly, like many other places taken over by the Japanese soldiers, the Laperal White House was used as a place to kill Filipinos believed to be spies and comfort women were taken there to be raped repeatedly.

Eventually, the Laperals had ownership over their home again after the war. When the heads of the Laperal clan died, the house was no longer owned by the clan. It is unclear who managed it after the death of the head of the Laperals but it was closed to the public for a number of years. In 2007, a billionaire tycoon named Lucio Tan purchased the property and had it renovated to serve as a tourist attraction.

Originally, the house was named as Laperal Guesthouse but because of its white paintings, it was alternatively called as such. The exterior was initially beige and the roof was red but after it transferred ownership, the exterior was painted white.

In 2013, the Laperal White House became the home of the Bamboo Foundation museum, which showcases Filipino artworks based on bamboo and wood. Despite it being transformed into a museum, the paranormal activities and haunted stories remain to be an attraction for tourists and locals.

The Ghosts Of Laperal White House

Most of the interior of the Laperal White House and the furniture are still intact. One of the places where the ghosts of Laperal White House can be seen is at the staircase of the home. According to the caretakers of the house, they have seen Roberto Laperal’s ghost in the staircase. Some tourists have also claimed seeing his ghost in that specific part of the Laperal White House.

The ghost of Victorina is also said to haunt the Laperal White House. Some claim that they saw her knitting in her favorite part of the house, the receiving area or the sala. Her fortune plants are also very close to her heart that when a security guard of the Laperal White House was ordered to cut them down, he was not able to walk for days. The new security guard who took over that guard’s post also had problems with his radio and his cellphone because the radio would switch to different stations without him touching it. As for his cellphone, the security guard claimed that his wife fought with him one time because his wife heard a woman’s voice while they were talking. The guard said he was alone that time.

In a documentary by a local network in the Philippines, it is believed that the woman’s voice heard by the security guard’s wife is the same as the woman’s voice that whispered into one of the videos taken by the local network for their show. In the CCTV camera, the woman’s voice said, “Andito kami ngayon” or “We are here” in English. After that, the CCTV camera fell down.

The ghosts of ladies dressed in white seen inside the Laperal White House and across the building is believed to belong to the maids and nannies who died in the area. One of the maids reportedly got raped and killed during the Japanese invasion. A nanny, on the other hand, allegedly committed suicide because she was so heartbroken. Another nanny also allegedly killed herself because the child she was taking care of was hit by a car and she became very sad over this. Others have reported seeing a woman looking out the window. This is one of the most common sightings and it is believed that the woman is the nanny of the child who ran across the street and got hit by a car.

One traveler wrote on TripAdvisor the following: “At first, we didn’t believe with what the bystanders told us, ‘coz we found nothing in the house and there’s no spooky feeling when we went there, not until we reviewed the photos we took! In one of the photos, we found an image of a woman staring in the window (scary!).”

The child that died is said to be one of the grandchildren of Roberto and Victorina but there aren’t any record about such death so it is unclear if this report is true. If this was true, it could be possible that this girl and another child, a boy, are the ones seen playing around the Laperal White House.

Murder-Suicide Outside the Laperal White House

One of the caretakers claimed that a couple died in front of the Laperal White House sometime in the past. The guy, who was driving the vehicle, stopped right in front of the Laperal White House and killed his girlfriend. Later, he committed suicide by shooting himself.

It is unknown why the guy did what he did but knowing this makes the Laperal White House all the more haunted and eerie.

Other Paranormal Activities At The Laperal White House

Other sightings and noises are heard at the Laperal White House. Passersby claimed that they have heard angry voices and loud noises from inside the house even if no one was there and it was closed to the public. Visitors and passersby also feel like someone was watching them while they were at the area. They also had the feeling of being unwelcome.
