Mystery at McConnell

Wichita Kansas is the proud home of the McConnell Air Force Base.  Built in 1941, the base is still maintained as originally planned for its current use.  The McConnell Air Force Base is named after Fred and Thomas McConnell who were Air Force pilots and World War II veterans.  The base’s primary modus operandi is to serve as a valuable fueling center.  It’s primary operations are to conduct air refueling and airlift.

While the base seems like a normal operation for the United States military, it was the site of a gruesome crash in 1965 that some say changed the events and energy of the base forever.  The crash occurred due to engine failure after take off.  Unfortunately, the plane crashed into a residential intersection and caused a great fire.  Over thirty people were killed.  More than twenty were on the ground civilians.  Seven crew members died aboard the plane.

Since the time of that accident, strange events have been reported.  Military personnel are reluctant to take certain shifts or visit certain areas alone.  Some events are so intense that certain crews and personnel refuse to speak about their incidents or report them.  Some pilots refuse to go on record and guards are hesitant to speak up, even when the instances are witnessed by other people.  It seems that whatever is haunting McConnell Air Force Base is powerful enough to terrify even the bravest of men.

The few members who would talk describe some of the horrors seen by the men.  A ghostly apparition of a World War II aircraft has appeared and been seen to land on the runway as if unaware the mission has long since been terminated.  Maintenance workers especially have been terrorized by the paranormal occurrences.

There are strange sounds and noises reported on certain areas of the base, more common on certain days and times and near certain aircraft and equipment.  Lights turn on and off by themselves, and doors open and close as if military men past continue about their work.  Objects are moved, only to reappear in new places.  Alarms are reported to go off and stop only once responders enter a room or bay.

The military men at McConnell Air Force Base are not the only ones to witness the strange occurrences.  In 2011, strange lights were reported over the sky at McConnell Air Force Base.  Oddly enough, the lights corresponded with strange signals appearing over the radar, signaling severe abnormalities.  Some have been said to land near a missile deployment site, landing just long enough for a brief rest, changing colors and shooting back into the sky, only in reverse.  Some civilians have described it like lightning, only more radiant and powerful.

Even more odd, many have reported seeing the ghostly apparition of the plane that crashed in residential neighborhoods in the sixties.  Some have even reported smelling smoke or believing they had seen fire.  When witnesses run to the site of the crash they thought they had seen, nothing remains but the charred smell of the burning aircraft and faint smell of smoke.
